SSAW STEEL PIPE

SSAW steel pipe is abbreviation of spiral submerged arc welded steel pipe, is a spiral welded steel pipe produced by double-sided submerged arc welding. Spiral welded pipes are formed from narrower sheets or hot-rolled coils, which greatly reduces their production costs. The spiral welding process allows the production of large diameter pipes suitable for transporting large quantities of oil and gas.

Process
Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe UsesIn Spiral Submerged Arc Welding (SSAW) Process, also known as HSAW pipe, welding line shape like a helix. It is using the same welding technology of Submerged Arc Welding with LSAW pipe. Only major difference being SSAW pipe is spiral welded whereas the LSAW is longitudinally welded. Manufacturing process is rolling the steel strip, to make the rolling direction have an angle with the direction of the pipe center, forming and welding, so the welding seam is in a spiral line.
